Competitive youth sports has evolved immensely. High level players are required to be faster, stronger and more agile than ever before. While many student athletes have access to their high school gym room or may have a personal space in their home in which to work out, many youth athletes lack the knowledge they need to get the most out of their training.
Training
Knowledge of how to correctly, efficiently and safely train their still developing bodies is essential to get the most out of their workout and to avoid injuries that can derail their entire season. Social media platforms like Instagram have a huge influence on how many individuals, both young and old, train and that’s a huge problem. Why is it a problem? Anybody with a smartphone can record a workout or exercise and post it on social media, however, what are their credentials? Do they actually know what they’re talking about? Unfortunately, often times the answer is no! Following many of these workouts as demonstrated will yield subpar results at best and at worst, may even get you injured. Common issues with social media fitness influencers include but are certainly not limited to…
- Gimmicky exercises that do very little if anything
- Improper form
- Incomplete range of motion of an exercise
- “Trainers” who use performance enhancing drugs
- Edited videos that do not represent reality
- Unsafe advice that isn’t scientifically or medically informed
Parents and students invest an enormous amount of time and money into their athletic commitments. As parents we make sure that our athletes have the best gear we can afford to keep them safe and enroll them in specialized programs to help improve their skills in a specific sport. It only makes sense that we would use the same approach when it comes to their physical fitness program by investing in a personal training program run by a NASM-CPT that will be safe, effective and personalized for them!
Our student athlete performance training program uses proven training methods and modalities that are proven to yield results. We customize each program to the individual athlete, their sport as well as their performance requirements. We consistently reevaluate the athletes progress and modify the intensity of their individualized program according to their goals as needed.
Nutrition
Physical fitness and nutrition go hand in hand. While young athletes possess a metabolism that many of us past the age of 30 envy, just because they can get away with eating “junk”, doesn’t mean they should. That’s especially true if they’re playing at a high level, are investing in a personal training program and also wish to maximize their true potential. Our NASM certified personal trainers are also NASM certified nutrition coaches and can help guide your athlete and help them make nutritional choices that are right for them and their personal goals. Every athlete is different and as a result will require an individualized assessment to determine variables such as their macronutrient requirements, daily caloric intake recommendations, as well as any additional supplementation that they may benefit from.
